CCRSPI Phase 1 – Laying the groundwork

Climate change poses specific challenges for Australia’s primary industries, with natural volatility affecting biophysical conditions, increasing domestic and international legal and regulatory pressures, and mounting public concern and media scrutiny about the way produce is grown and distributed through markets. These impacts cross sectors, regions, regulatory boundaries and natural biophysical limits. Mitigating these impacts, and adapting to climate change, necessitates putting in place measures that operate across different social, economic and political cycles.

The CCRSPI Phase 1 report, Summary Fact Sheet, Appendices and research papers provide an excellent overview of the projected impacts of climate change on primary industries. The research underpinning these reports found the level of awareness, understanding and preparedness for climate change varies widely between primary industries.
